Downtown Special - Kunio-kun no Jidaigeki Dayo Zenin Shuugou! GamePlay:
"Downtown Special - Kunio-kun no Jidaigeki Dayo Zenin Shuugou!" is a 2D side-scrolling action game developed and published by Technos Japan Corp. for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) in 1991. The game features characters from the "Kunio-kun" series, which includes popular games such as "River City Ransom" and "Super Dodge Ball."
In "Downtown Special," players take on the role of Kunio-kun, who travels back in time to feudal Japan to rescue his girlfriend. The game's levels are presented as stages in a theater play, with different environments and enemies based on common themes of Japanese drama such as ninja, samurai, and sumo wrestling.
The gameplay involves beating up enemies using various attacks, as well as solving puzzles and platforming challenges to reach the end of each level. Players can also collect power-ups and money along the way, which can be used to buy items and upgrades in shops between levels. In addition to the single-player mode, the game also features a two-player co-op mode where players can team up to take on the enemies together.
